The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
The question this week is:
Do you enjoy reading romance novels? If so, which romance trope is your favorite?
I love a good romance and I particularly enjoy the enemies to lovers trope. I know it’s very predictable, but I love it when the sparks start to fly and the inevitable swooning happens, from both characters! Having listened to Pride and Prejudice recently I can see where it all started, with Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy. I’m glad that trope has carried on as I’ve read and listened to some really good books over the years.
If you read romance novels, do you have a favourite trope?
Basically I’ve become a sucker for most tropes, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers and forced proximity (which always sounds sinister). I’ve also started to fall for grumpy single dads (who I’d run a mile from in real life lol!)
I’ve just gotten pickier. I’m not a fan of contrived communication issues or drama that could be resolved in a day. I love contemporary romances that have a strong human element with well developed characters. In the right hands, I love the genre.
I really don’t read romance that often, but when I do I like the young adult genre. “Bullies to romance” or high school drama. Lol, I know, it sounds like an ole lady trying to go back in time, hmm… 🤣 Happy Saturday Nicki!
Yes, I like enemies-to-lovers, too. Especially if it is amusing!

I’m not a big reader of romance, but I quite like the gradual development that comes from forced proximity x

I don’t like romance when it the center part of the story. There has to be something else going on in the book.

I love the genre and have a host of writers that are auto read. I lean more towards romantic suspense and contemporary fiction with romantic elements.

Interesting Jo, so not just outright romance then?
