Top 10 Tuesday – Ten Characters That You Can Relate To

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

The rules are simple:

  • Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
  • Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.

This week’s topic is Ten Characters That You Can Relate To. There’s been a real trend for ‘badass women’ in books and as I’m not that sort of woman I really can’t relate to them. I prefer to read about women who overcome problems in more realistic ways. Here are my choices for this week:

  1. I don’t fight back either. I was totally shocked to see a character go visit her ex-boyfriend at the end of a recent story and punch him in the face. So not me.

    I hope you’ll stop by and take a look at my list.

  2. I’m with you Nicki! I love when I can relate to a character too and one of my favorites is Where The Forest Meets the Stars! What the Wind Knows is def. on my to read list! ❤

  3. I’ve only read The Chronicles of Narnia from this list. Which character are you most like, Lucy or Susan (although it could be one of the others).

    I’m not much of a girly-girl, so I do kinda go for the badass heroine trope, as long as it’s not too unrealistic), but I know that that’s not everybody. Maybe there should be more balance.
