Hello and welcome to my spot on the blog tour for The Celt Phoenix by Kim Krisco published by MX Publishing. Thanks to Caroline Vincent for the invite and for my digital ARC. Before I share my review here’s what the book is all about:

My Review

As the blurb above mentions this book is set 1919,  when Sherlock Holmes is retired and living on the Sussex Downs in England. Of course we all know that a man like Holmes can’t sit around all day relaxing, and so it is with this story when he is sent a intriguing brass casket containing human body parts. This sets him off back to London and on the trail of this new adventure. This story isn’t just about Holmes and Watson, this book features Tessa Wiggins a former Baker Street Irregular, now a grown woman, who becomes entangled in this mystery.

I liked Tessa a lot, her loyalty to Holmes and the suspect in this book. She was a kind person who wanted to help her friends, but wasn’t full of confidence in how she should act. She felt like a normal woman and not a badass woman. If you prefer a badass female don’t worry as there are quite a few in this book, along with a few male villains too.

I enjoyed the mystery in this book especially all the Celtic references and descriptions, making it a very interesting read. The author used some wonderful imagery especially in the scenes with Ganna the druid, enabling me to see it all happening as I was reading. In fact I think it would make a brilliant film if Guy Ritchie, Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law are thinking of making a third Sherlock Holmes film. 😉

If you prefer your Sherlock Holmes stories to be a bit modern then you’ll enjoy this one with motor cars, buses and women who speak their minds and act without their male guardian’s permission, then you’ll definitely enjoy this book.

About The Author
