I’m absolutely delighted to be hosting a stop on the blog tour for Dear My Pop Star by Derek & Dave Philpott. Before I share my review here’s what the book is all about:

They miss the point as often as they hit it.
But then, to their great surprise, the pop stars started writing back…
Dear Mr Pop Star contains 100 of Derek and Dave’s greatest hits, including correspondence with Katrina and the Waves, Tears for Fears, Squeeze, The Housemartins, Suzi Quatro, Devo, Deep Purple, Nik Kershaw, T’Pau, Human League, Eurythmics, Wang Chung, EMF, Mott the Hoople, Heaven 17, Jesus Jones, Johnny Hates Jazz, Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine, Chesney Hawkes and many, many more.

My Review

What a fab book this was, making me chuckle to myself on numerous occasions as I read the hilarious letters and replies. I just love the fact that they wrote to these pop stars in the first place, but then to get these laugh out loud replies really is the icing on the cake! Plus who’d have thought these serious brooding pop stars had such a great sense of humour!!

Some of my favourites replies were from Doctor and The Medics, Dr Hook, Tears for Fears, Cutting Crew, Moot the Hoople, The Wurzels, Suzi Quatro, The Knack, Danny Wilson, Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskell and The Jags. I could go on for much longer but it would spoil your fun of coming across all those bands you used to watch on Top of The Pops.

I also loved the fact that they’ve also included the notes that were sent out and didn’t have replies, like the ones to Spandau Ballet, Belinda Carlisle, OMD, The Jam, Adam & the Ants and more.

This will make a wonderful Christmas present for the music lover in your life or just as a marvellous treat to yourself. Go on you know you want to!

Thanks so much to Dave Dawson for inviting me on to the blog tour and for providing me with a digital copy.
