Six Degrees of Separation – from The Poisonwood Bible to The Uncommon Reader

It’s time for #6degrees. It’s unquestionably the least demanding bookish meme on the interwebs, so join in!

Six Degrees of Separation is a monthly meme hosted by Books Are My Favourite and Best. The idea is to start with the book that Kate gives us and then create a chain of six books, each suggested by the one before…

This month we begin with The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver a book that was recommended to me many years ago. I didn’t get very far with it and DNF’d quite early on.

Another book I gave up on was The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides, a book that I received from Waterstones’ through their old ‘read and review’ page.  This was years before I had the blog, when I only used to review books on their website, amazon, and Goodreads.

What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank by Nathan Englander, is another book I received from Waterstones. It was the most amazing collection of short stories that I’ve ever read and I must make time to read it again soon.

Another collection of short stories that I remember really enjoying is Bread & Chocolate by Philippa Gregory. It was a fabulous random book that I found in the library quite a few years ago now.

Another random library find that I loved is The Year of Living Danishly by Helen Russell. This had me laughing out loud when I read it last year.

My final choice this week is The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett. This was such a delightful book, that even makes me smile now as I remember it.

Hope you enjoyed the trip!
