#BookReview The Little Cafe in Copenhagen by Julie Caplin

34875681Goodreads blurb: “Welcome to the little cafe in Copenhagen where the smell of cinnamon fills the air and the hot chocolate is as smooth as silk.

Publicist Kate Sinclair’s life in London is everything she thought she wanted: success, glamour and a charming boyfriend. Until that boyfriend goes behind her back and snatches a much sought-after promotion from her. Heartbroken and questioning everything, Kate needs to escape.

Leaving behind rush hour and late nights in the office for a city break in beautiful Copenhagen, Kate discovers how to live life ‘the Danish way’. From candles and cosy nights in to the easy smiles of tall, gorgeous Vikings and eating your body weight in pastries (ok, that’s just her), the city offers her a new perspective.

Can the secrets of hygge and happiness lead her to her own happily-ever-after?”

My Review

I loved this book and I’m so glad I saw the tweet for a NetGalley copy on Boxing Day. This is one of those books that made me smile every time I picked it up, because I felt like I was meeting up with old friends.

I really liked Kate and was rooting for her the whole time, she felt like someone I would enjoy be friends with. All the characters Kate came in to contact with felt real and so did the situations she found herself in.

The city break that Kate goes on in Copenhagen is great fun with lots of laugh out loud moments but also some serious ones too. I’d love to visit the little cafe in the title that the author brought to life, it really does sounds like the perfect spot to while away a few hours.

So, If you looking for a perfect feel good read that will leave you smiling this is definitely the book for you.

Even though I’ve read the digital ARC, I’m going to get myself a print copy, so as I can snuggle up with it whenever I need a feel good read and some hygge in my life.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and HarperImpulse for my digital copy.

The Little Cafe in Copenhagen by Julie Caplin will be published by HarperImpulse on 1 February 2018.

  1. I love the current British obsession with Copenhagen – and I lived there for 3.5 years. It’s not really as perfect as it’s made out to be, BUT I miss it a lot and think there’s a lot to be said for Hygge, cafes and candles. Copenhagen prices though… Ouch! I’ll keep an eye out for the book.

      1. Yes I did. I also really enjoyed ‘The Almost Nearly Perfect People’ by Michael Booth. It’s much darker and caused quite a backlash but there’s a lot of truth in it. Still love the Nordics though!

  2. This sounds like a lovely read 🙂 I have been to Copenhagen a couple if times and in short ‘bursts’ of time but it does have a different vibe… and the Vikings are quite the eye-candy, indeed! 😀
