I received this book, from Real Readers in exchange for an honest review.
A huge snowstorm crushes an abandoned factory in the small town of Paradise on the Massachusetts coast. The next morning three bodies are discovered in the rubble, one belongs to an unidentified man and the others are skeletal remains of two missing teenagers from twenty-five years ago. Are the bodies connected? Can Police Chief Jesse Stone make the connections before anymore bodies turn up or before he loses his job?
I’ve never heard of Jesse Stone, Robert B Parker or Reed Farrel Coleman before, so I really didn’t know what to expect with this 14th story in the series. It was good with just enough back story to make me want to read on and find out more about Chief Jesse Stone. This story felt real as did the setting and characters ,especially Jesse and Molly. I didn’t know who the murderer/s were until near the end as there were plenty of twists and turns keeping me in the dark.
I’d definitely read more in the series and would recommend this to crime readers. I think it could work in a book club setting too as there are some interesting themes about small communities and secrets running throughout.
