Women's Fiction, WWII

When the Sky Fell Apart

29413718This the first novel set during the Jersey Occupation that I’ve read and I did enjoy it. Although it is a work of fiction it was hard to read in the light of the fact that my mother and her family lived through this dark part of my island’s history. I kept thinking about them and how they coped. I liked the main characters, Edith in particular made me smile a lot with very her Jersey ways. I found the doctor a very hard character to like, as I was torn by his dithering and silence, but could sympathise with his predicament. Great characters and a good story which I recommend for readers who enjoy stories set during WW2.
